Annual Terry Fox Run

In 1980, Terry had a dream of a world without cancer. Forty-five years later, Terry’s Marathon of Hope lives on. If we work together, we can make such a difference in the lives of so many. Please help fund critical cancer research in Canada by supporting our participation in the 2025 Terry Fox School Run.

Crossing the finish line means hope for everyone with cancer. Together, we can Finish It.

Fundraising Goal Reached

Dewson Schoolyard Project

Dream Playground

We asked a group of Dewson students to design their dream playground. This is what they drew. Video by Kelsey Blake Creative. Website / Instagram

An outdoor space that brings learning and play to life.

We’ve acheived our fundraising goal! Thank you to all of our donors!

The Dewson schoolyard has been a cherished and well-used space for generations of students. Over time, this constant use has taken its toll. We are now embarking on a much-needed revitalization project to restore and enhance the yard for current and future students.

Our goal is to raise funds for critical improvements, including the restoration of the eroded sports court, the replacement of aging playground equipment, increased accessibility, and the addition of shaded areas, outdoor learning zones, and sensory play features.

By supporting this initiative, you will play a direct role in creating a vibrant, inclusive, and engaging outdoor space for over 400 elementary students—as well as the wider community that benefits from this shared environment.

Upcoming Events

Dewson Fun Fair

The Dewson Fun Fair is an unbelievable event which happens every June in the early afternoon, rain or shine (though it has never rained on us). It is a highly anticipated student event. They say it takes a village to raise a child… but it takes an entire school community to pull off the Fun Fair every year. It is the most volunteer-dependent event of the year. We need all hands-on-deck. Just a little time goes a long way. While the vast majority of volunteers are needed on the day of, we also need help prior to the Fun Fair. No offer of time is too small – come one, come all! The focus of Fun Fair is FUN; any funds raised for the school council budget support amazing activities and initiatives at the school for improving student achievement and well-being.
